Films: The Willies (1990)

Summary: Don't lie when you tell us about what you used to do around the campfire with your friends. At least one of you decided to spook the rest by telling stories of often dubious horror. But then there were those times where the story turned out to be...quite something...

History: A bunch of kids were spending some time telling stories in a tent. While most of the stories are short and rather ugly (men dying of heart attacks at amusement park rides, poodles being put in microwaves), at least two of them have much more thought put into them. These include one about a kid tormented by his teacher and with an only friend in the form of a kindly janitor who is actually a horrific ape monster, and a snotty kid who steals growth-enhancing manure, only to put some of his flies in it one night.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: That kid never knew his friend was a monster taking out his tormentors, though the other one lives in indignity after getting his arms ripped off by the enlarged flies that just sort of disappear afterwards. Oh, and it turns out the storytellers have the monster in their midst. Whether he's just trying to scare them or something else is anyone's guess.

Powers/Abilities: The monster seems to have access to a bunch of convincing disguises.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-The monsters don't have the most convincing suit work going for them, especially the flailing flies. But the main monster does have that savage look to him, so there's that. Also, all of the creatures were conceived specifically to punish the wicked, even if they sometimes step out of bounds.

Trivia: -One of the storytellers is named Michael, and at one point he's reprimanded for almost telling a story about how he and his friends found a pirate ship in a cave. This is a nod to "The Goonies", which featured a kid of both the same name and actor.

-The school monster story is based on the writer/director's old short film from only five years earlier.
